Christmas BALL Ornaments
I have previously shared two sphere Christmas ornaments, which were a part of a whole Christmas character series. The same is for these Christmas ornaments, as there is an ongoing crochet series.

01 of 04 Gingebread Ball Ornament
This cute baby gingerbread man Christmas ornament uses a basic base sphere pattern and features embroidery sprinkles on the head, too.
It is designed to be the easiest ornament in this Christmas ball ornament set and can be learned to crochet in just 30 minutes. You can crochet a large version using bulky yarn, too.
Materials Used
- Cotton yarn (100% premium cotton, recommended for a 3 mm hook, but the video uses a smaller hook for amigurumi) in:
Beige/Gingerbread color (for the head/sphere).
White (for the icing/glaze).
Red (for the gumdrop/candy detail).
Green (for the embroidered details on the icing).
Crochet Hook: 2 mm (used to ensure tight stitching, half a size smaller than the yarn’s recommendation).
Safety Eyes: 12 mm.
02 of 04 Penguin Christmas Ball Ornament
The penguin ball ornament is detailed and unique! You can crochet this penguin amigurumi with a cap, a bow, and ear warmers that can be crocheted with either cotton or chenille yarn.
This ornament is my favorite of all the Christmas head ornaments. This project is best for an Intermediate crocheter since it requires crocheting and assembling many parts.
Materials Needed
- Cotton yarn (the maker uses Linea Premium Cotton) in:
White (for the head/face).
Black (for the body/top of the head).
Yellow/Mustard (for the beak/nose).
Crudo/Off-White (for the ear muffs—alternatively, you can use Chenille yarn, which the creator also demonstrates).
Red (for the bow/tie).
Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm (the yarn recommends 3 mm, but a smaller hook is used for amigurumi).
Safety Eyes: 12 mm (placed between rows 13 and 14, nine stitches apart).

Nutcrackers have been popular Christmas decorations. Following this tutorial, learn how to crochet a pair of large Nutcracker amigurumi ball ornaments. The design also features coiled hair that is glued and stitched to the head.
Either you try the black mustache or the white one, these Christmas Nutcracker ornaments look oh-so cute. Learn crocheting in just 43 minutes.
Materials Recommended
- Yarn (Cotton): The tutorial uses Línea Premium Cotton 100% Premium Cotton yarn.
- Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm (the suggested hook for the yarn is 3 mm, but 2.5 mm is used for a tighter amigurumi stitch).
- Safety Eyes: 12 mm (placed between rows 14 and 15, with 7 stitches between them).
- Stuffing: Fiberfill/stuffing material for the head.

Looking for a girl’s gift? Crochet this super detailed Elf girl ball ornament with a smiling face and an elf hat featuring a real bell. The set last time had an Elf boy ornament, so you can complete a pair of them.
It has a striped hat, cute braided pigtails, and embroidered facial details (including freckles, eyelashes, and a stitched mouth). The finished amigurumi is approximately 10 cm (4 inches) tall.

- 100% Cotton Premium Yarn (Brand: Reves Derecho, recommended hook size 3, but the tutorial uses 2.5).
