In this post, we have a two-in-one tutorial for your favorite animal in a Halloween costume idea! Learn how to crochet this cat in a boo ghost costume that also includes two fun accessories: a witch hat and a fairy staff stick that is so fun to play with. You will learn two versions with just a difference of color and a bit of embroidery, including a brown cat and a black cat, a Halloween symbol. These amigurumi are completely in the shape of boo but with the innocent face of a cat and bobble hands visible. You will be surprised by how the tutor managed this cat in a costume pattern to be no-sew! Crochet it as a desk buddy, car hanger, and even as a support toy!

About the Designer: The designer behind this ghost key cover project is @CrochetGoStudio – her crochet library is all about the cute and mini plushies and keychains, mostly in with the set of variations and combos like fruit animal from autumny_crochet. Some of my favorite tutorials are for a Hello Kitty AirPods case, a mini parrot keychain, a reversible pumpkin doll, and a Spider-Man keychain. She also has a website with free patterns. I just love her creative designs, like the Hello Kitty guava pattern!
Note: In respect of the creator’s pattern rights, there will be no provision of the written pattern. You can watch the tutorial with on-screen instructions at the end of this post.
Crochet Halloween Costume Cat Tutorial
Skill Level: Beginners – Intermediate. You will first crochet the head of the Halloween cat as a sphere or crochet ball, which needs increases and decreases. Then, using the chain skipping, you will crochet the space in the boo costume plus hands using bobble stitch and the same basic stitches like single crochet, which is common to the ball head. For the bottom shell edging, you will use FLO, skip, cluster, and half-double crochet. For the witch hat, color changes, increase, and again hdc.
Tutorial Timing: Approximately 19 Minutes. (perfect for learning how to face challenges in making an amigurumi no-sew, like using the surface stitching and bobble stitch. The tutorial is so compact but details almost all amigurumi techniques that you will tackle in most designs. So, worth-watching.)
Personalization Tips: As mentioned earlier, you can choose from two color-combos: the brown cat head and arms with purple and yellow witch hat & black cat with black and orange witch hat and white cross embroidery. There is an optional mini star for the staff which can be changed with the broom using the cuttings of yarn.
Pattern Type: A detailed on-screen written pattern is available if you find written instructions easy to follow along with.
