Crochet Ghost Octopus Amigurumi Tutorial

Skill Level: Beginner – Intermediate. The pattern works from the witch hat to the head and to the tentacles without any sewing, but with color changes and worked in rounds. You will be using the single crochet as a base stitch and an increasing pattern for the cone shape of the witch hat. For the raised stripe, after color-change, work the stitches in the FLO and then switch to normal, work the selected color in BLO using sc.

The ghost amigurumi head is worked in white using BLO for the first round and also needs decreases. You will make the tentacles by surface stitching after closing the head using the dc cluster stitch.

Tutorial timing: Approximately 41 minutes (worth watching as you will learn the popular no-sew octopus pattern plus the cluster stitch that is used in many other animal projects like bear plushie, ghost with arms, and more. You can also separately crochet the witch hat for your mini amigurumi since the hat has a medium size and has the same appealing details like the strip and curl of the top.)

Personalization tips: As mentioned, you can choose from the purple, pink, and orange hat for the main color, while the cross embroidery is optional. For the strip, you can also choose from brown, purple, and black since dark colors are needed for better contrast. For a huggable and squishy octopus ghost, use the bulky yarn to get a boo ghost plushie. You can also begin making the legs or tentacles from upward so to crochet more legs since the tutor’s version has a few.

Pattern Type: An on-screen written pattern is available if you find written instructions easy to follow along with.
