Free Crochet Sunflower Curtain Tie Pattern
This summer and spring, learn how to crochet an elegant sunflower tieback for curtains with a long tie and leaf strings. This sunflower tie has a stuffed centre with 15 flat petals. You can also use the big flower crocheted with yarn to make a sunflower for a vase by adding a yarn-wrapped craft wire.
We will be crocheting a chain stitch string and leaves in two sizes. You can tie in a way you like and also try the bow knot method shown above. By stuffing the flower lightly, it maintains a nice shape. I will share both UK and US patterns here.

Detailed Assembly
- Joining the Centers: Place the two brown discs with their right sides facing outwards. Align the stitches of both pieces. Insert the crochet hook through the corresponding stitches of both the front and back discs to begin the petal layer.
- Petal Construction: Join the yellow yarn through both layers. Work the petal sequence into the edges. Each petal spans two stitches of the brown base. Ensure the picot tip of the petal is created by slip stitching back into the top of the first treble crochet.
- Stuffing: When approximately 12 petals are completed, pause to insert a small amount of fiberfill. Flatten the flower slightly so it remains decorative and not overly bulky. Finish the remaining petals and slip stitch to the first petal to close.
- Attaching the Tie: Turn the sunflower to the back side. Secure the green yarn to one of the brown stitches near the center. Crochet a long foundation chain of 170 stitches. This length can be adjusted based on the thickness of your curtains.
