Crochet Tulip Stitch Coaster Tutorial
Skill Level: Beginner – Intermediate. The coaster pattern is worked from the center outward by working in the round without any sewing. You need the basic double crochet and increase pattern for the first three rounds. For the fourth round to crochet the leaf patterns, color chain spaces, increase, and chain stitches are needed. For the flower stitch, you will need double crochet clusters as the popcorn stitch, a chain for the tulip look, and working in chain spaces. As per usual, you will also need a slip stitch.
Tutorial Timing: 17 minutes only for the coaster (perfect for learning the connected tulip flower stitch, cluster stitches, and lace-work. Moreover, practicing working in rounds, you can crochet dishcloths, doilies, and placemats using the same pattern and use the stitch for adding edging around the dishcloths, flower bags, and more. So, the tutorial is worth watching!)
Personalization Tips: The tulip colors are much more diverse, red, orange, yellow, purple, white, pink, blue (or near-blue), maroon/burgundy, black, cream, bi-colored / multicolored (variegated). So, you can choose from any of these, and we can still call it the tulip coaster. As for my recommendation, purple will work best! You can easily increase the size of this flower coaster by making more inner rounds and, in the end, crochet the tulip stitch. You can also use the beads, embroidery, and other details.
Pattern Type: An on-screen written pattern is available if you find written instructions easy to follow along with. The pattern is written in US terms.
