Crochet Flower Pot Pattern For Table Decoration

Materials

  • Yarn: Pot color, brown (soil), flower color, white (center), green (leaves/stem)
  • Hooks: 2.5mm (pot/flower) and 1.0mm (soil)
  • Stuffing
  • Wire or toothpick
  • Craft glue & hot glue gun
  • Yarn needle

The Pattern

1. The Pot (2.5mm hook, Pot Color)

  • Round 1: 8 sc in a Magic Ring (8)
  • Round 2: 8 inc (16)
  • Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat 8 times (24)
  • Round 4: Front Loops Only (FLO) 24 sc (24)
  • Rounds 5-8: 24 sc (24)
  • Round 9 (The Rim): Chain 1, turn your work. Back Loops Only (BLO) 24 sc. Slip stitch to finish.
  • Fold the rim down.

2. The Soil (1.0mm hook, Brown)

  • Round 1: 8 sc in a Magic Ring. (Tip: Don’t pull the ring totally shut; leave a tiny hole for the stem).
  • Round 2: 8 inc (16)
  • Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat 8 times (24).
  • Slip stitch and leave a long tail of yarn for sewing.

3. The Flower (2.5mm hook, Flower Color)

  • Round 1: 10 sc in a Magic Ring. Slip stitch to close. (10)
  • Round 2: Chain 3, make 1 Puff stitch in the next stitch, chain 3, slip stitch in the next stitch. Repeat this 4 more times to make 5 petals.
  • Push the puff stitches out with your fingers so they pop.

4. The Flower Center (2.5mm hook, White)

  • Round 1: Magic Ring, chain 3, make 1 Puff stitch right into the ring.
  • Pull the ring tight to form a tiny ball.

5. The Leaves – Make 2 (2.5mm hook, Green)

  • Chain 6.
  • Side 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from your hook, work: sl st, sc, hdc, sc, sl st.
  • Side 2: Chain 1, then work down the opposite side of the chain: sl st, sc, hdc, sc, sl st.
  • Leave a long tail for sewing.

Quick Assembly

  1. Wrap the Stem: Coat your wire in craft glue. Wrap green yarn tightly around it from top to bottom. Let it dry.
  2. Mount the Flower: Thread the top of the dry stem through the center hole of your flower.
  3. Attach the Center: Put a drop of hot glue on the back of the white flower center. Press it into the middle of the flower, trapping the top of the stem underneath it.

  1. Stuff and Sew: Use a yarn needle to sew the brown soil just inside the rim of the pot. Stop right before closing it to stuff the pot firmly with fiberfill, then sew it completely shut.
  2. Sew the Leaves: Sew the two green leaves flat onto the top of the brown soil.
  3. Plant It: Dip the bottom end of the stem in craft glue. Push it firmly down through the center hole of the soil into the stuffing so it stands up straight. Let it dry.
