About the Designer: The designer behind these Halloween cozies is @PlayHookywithMe – she is a great teacher and creative crochet designer who always focuses on crocheting colorful items. Her crochet tutorials cover a wide range of topics, from tutorials on lovely stitches, borders, joins, and other techniques (like the Open Moss Stitch and seamless lace joins for motifs and squares) to full project guides for blankets and amigurumi. Her retro granny square, paw print stitch, gingerbread ornament, and fall mug cozy are my favorite projects!
Note: In respect of the creator’s pattern rights, there will be no provision of the written pattern. You can watch the tutorial with on-screen written instructions at the end of this post.
Easy Halloween Cozies Tutorial
Skill Level: Beginner – Intermediate. You will be using the basic crochet stitches like half double crochet, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, slip stitches, and magic circle for working in the round. These stitches form the foundation for the mug warmers and are used to create decorative elements like petals, scalloped edges, eyes, and noses. The project also uses techniques like attaching pieces securely and shaping elements like ears or flower centers. Working in BLO for ribbed texture, chain and chain-skip for the straps, color-changes for petal, working in the chain spaces for scalloped border, etc., are also needed.
Tutorial Timing: Just 34 minutes (worth watching as Rock teaches all three of these in so less time, which will improve your crochet designing and customization skills. In general, you will learn to crochet a scalloped border, which is popular in dishcloths, jack face for pumpkin amigurumi projects, a base pattern for cozy, and how to crochet a sunflower!)
Personalization Tips: You can also make it buttoned like the ribbed fall mug cozy project since the original warmer is closed. The size of the main pattern is super easy to adjust to fit any of your mugs just by changing the foundation chains. The whole project is all about customizing a basic ribbed mug cozy with borders, cat features, and a Jack-o-Lantern face, which are in soul customization.
Pattern Type: An on-screen written pattern is available if you find written instructions easy to follow along with.
