Step into summer style with this beautiful crochet flower bag that feels light, fresh, and charming. It is made by joining delicate six-petal flower motifs using Alua yarn. A small inner pouch can also be added for extra storage and safety.

1. Floral Motif Pattern
The bag is constructed using individual flower motifs. Each flower consists of 6 petals (unless specified for shaping).
Foundation: Ch 6, sl st into the first ch to form a ring.
First Petal: Ch 4. Work 3 incomplete tr into the ring (keep the last loop of each on the hook). Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. Ch 4, then sc into the ring.
Middle Petals (2–5): Ch 3. Work 3 incomplete tr into the ring. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. Ch 4, then sc into the ring.
Final Petal: Repeat the petal steps, but finish with a sl st into the center ring instead of an sc. Ch 1 and fasten off.
2. Assembly (Join-As-You-Go)
To connect the bag, you must join the motifs at the tips of the petals while crocheting the final round of a new flower.
Connection Method: After pulling through the loops of your 3 incomplete tr, insert the hook into the corresponding petal tip of a finished flower. Pull the current loop through the finished petal, then ch 4 and sc into the ring to secure the join.
Structure Layout:
Base: Join 4 flowers in a row.
Shaping: Use 5-petal flowers at the corners/ends to transition from the flat base to the curved sides.
Body: Crochet 4 vertical rounds of flowers. Each round requires 12 flowers joined in a circle.
3. I-Cord Handles (Make 2)
The handles are worked as a sturdy cord rather than a flat strap.
Foundation: Ch 4. Skip the 1st ch, sc in the next 3 chains.
The Cord: Rotate the work and sc into the “V” of the second stitch. Continue rotating and working into the two horizontal loops on the side of the stitch.
Length: Continue until the cord measures approximately 43cm. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
4. Finishing
Blocking: Use a garment steamer or iron (on a low steam setting) to flatten the motifs. This is essential for the bag to hold its shape.
Handles: Sew the ends of the handles to the inside of the bag, aligning them with the center of the floral motifs on the top row.
Details: Add a decorative label to the front and insert the cloth pouch inside to prevent small items from falling through the flower petals.
