1. The Body & Lid (Same for Both)

Follow the Main Body and Top Lid instructions from the previous message. Both characters use the same stitch counts for the AirPods case.

2. Character-Specific Features

For the Frog

  • Eyes: In Round 2 of the Top Lid, you must work the Puff Stitches (the “bumps” on top of the head).

    • Puff Stitch: Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop (repeat 5 times in the same stitch), yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.

  • Eyes Detail: Sew 8mm black button eyes onto the front of those puff stitch bumps.

  • Mouth: Embroider a wide, straight horizontal line in black yarn between the 4th and 5th rows.

  • Legs: The frog has long, dangling legs. Follow the Legs instruction (Ch 6, 5 sc in one st) to make the webbed-foot look.

For the Chick

  • Lid: Skip the puff stitches in Round 2; just work regular single crochets so the head is smooth.

  • Hair: After finishing the lid, pull a small loop of yellow yarn through the very top center. Cut it to about 1.5cm and use a needle or pin to fray the yarn so it looks like fuzzy down feathers.

  • Beak: Instead of a wide mouth, embroider a small orange “V” shape or a tiny horizontal bar.

  • Eyes: Embroider small vertical black lines instead of using buttons for a “sleeping” or “cute” expression.

  • Feet: You can use orange yarn for the legs to represent chick’s feet.

3. The Swing (The “Swing” Part)

  • Arms: Both use the same 5-sc arm pattern.

  • Assembly: The “swing” is a long chain (37cm) that passes through the arms. You then glue or sew the ends of this chain to the “Base Plate” (the flat oval) so the character looks like it is sitting on a swing.

Quick Tip: If you are making this for a Lip Balm, simply reduce the foundation chain of the body to 4 chains instead of 9, and follow the same logic for the rounds.
