Step by Step Pattern

Abbreviations

  • st(s): stitch(es)

  • ch: chain

  • sl st: slip stitch

  • sc: single crochet

  • hdc: half double crochet

  • BLO: back loop only

Pattern Instructions

Flower Pot

Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.

  • Round 1: Make a magic ring, 8 sc in ring. Join with a sl st to the first st. Ch 1 (does not count as a st).

  • Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (16 sts).

  • Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc repeat 8 times (24 sts).

  • Round 4: 1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc repeat 8 times (32 sts).

  • Round 5: BLO, 32 sc.

  • Rounds 6–11: 32 sc.

  • Round 12: BLO, 32 hdc.

  • Fasten off and weave in ends.

Soil

Follow the same instructions as the Flower Pot (Rounds 1–4).

  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sunflower Center

  • Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc in ring. Join with sl st, ch 1.

  • Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12 sts).

  • Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc repeat 6 times (18 sts).

  • Round 4: 18 sc.

  • Fasten off, leave a long tail.

Petals

Make two center pieces (see above). Place them back-to-back with a piece of bent wire inserted through the center. Join with sc around the edges, remembering to stuff the center before closing completely.

  • Petal Pattern: Insert hook into any stitch, ch 3, in the next st work 1 dc, ch 2 (picot), 1 tr, ch 3, sl st in next st.

  • Repeat the pattern for a total of 9 petals around the center piece.

Leaves (Make 2)

  • Ch 11.

  • Working with the wire: Starting from the second chain from the hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in the last chain.

  • Ch 2, then work the other side in reverse to mirror the first side.

  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail to wrap around the stem wire.

Assembly

  1. Stuff the pot with fiberfill.

  2. Sew the “Soil” piece onto the top of the pot.

  3. Wrap the stem wire (attached to the flower) with the remaining green yarn.

  4. Attach the leaves to the stem at your desired height.
