6. Embroidery Details
Tummy Feathers: Thread your yarn needle with the Main Color yarn (separated to be thinner). Embroider small ‘V’ shapes across the tummy. Make 3 ‘V’s on the bottom row, 2 ‘V’s on the row above that, and 1 ‘V’ near the top.
Feet: Thread orange yarn on your needle. Near the bottom center of the body, embroider a foot by making 3 vertical straight stitches radiating slightly outward from the same top hole. Skip two stitches over, and embroider the second foot identically.
7. Facial Assembly
Position the white eyes on the front of the head and glue (or sew) them securely.
Sew the small orange beak in the center of the face, slightly overlapping the bottom edges of the eyes.
Glue or insert your black safety eyes/pupils into the center of the white eye patches.
8. The Eyebrows (Main Color)
The eyebrows are crocheted directly onto the head, starting about 4 rows above the eye, working down diagonally toward the center bridge between the eyes.
Left Eyebrow:
Step 1: Attach yarn to the head and surface crochet 7 sc diagonally down toward the center. sl st, ch 1, turn.
Step 2: Crochet back up the eyebrow: 3 sc, 2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc and 1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the last st. ch 3, picot (sl st into the 3rd ch from hook). Fasten off and weave the end inside the head.
Right Eyebrow:
Step 1: Start at the center bridge (where the left eyebrow ended) and surface crochet 7 sc diagonally up and away from the center.
Step 2: ch 3, then ch 3 more for a picot (sl st into the 4th ch from the hook).
Step 3: Crochet back down the eyebrow: 1 dc in the first st, 2 dc in the next, 2 hdc in the next, 1 hdc, 3 sc. Fasten off and weave the end inside the head.
9. Keychain Loop
Attach a yarn tail to the top of the head.
