Crochet Mini Leaf for Fall Tutorial
Skill Level: Beginner – Level 5.
Why: Making a magic ring, chain stitch and crocheting the -2-1-1 Tunisian stitch. Normally, most crocheters never try the Tunisian. That’s why, I have leveled it beginner 5.
Supplies Used
- Cotton yarn 4ply or 5ply in green (you can use the Milk Cotton yarn).
- 2.20 mm Crochet hook (normal crochet hook will work fine as we are only gathering few loops on the crochet hook).
- Sewing Needle
- Keyring
Techniques
The tutorial is definitely to follow along. You can learn the techniques and abbreviations used in the tutorial below:
- ch – Chain. Make a slip knot on your hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the loop on your hook.
BLO Slst (Slip a stitch): Insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch and through the loop on your hook at the same time.
- sc single crochet. Insert in the MR, Yarn over, pull up a loop. Over pull through the 2 loops on the crochet hook.
Note that, slip stitch is not used as an abbreviation in the tutorial but it is used for sure!
- -2-1-1 Tunisian Stitch: The absolute sum of the numbers is 4 which means we had 4 chains and we pulled up 1 loop through each of the chain. Now, the number describes the pulling method. That is to YO, pull through 2, yarn over and pull through 2 again, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook. Don’t confuse 1 with 1 loop as it would never remove loops from the hook!
- -2-1-1-1-1 Tunisian Stitch: You have gathered 6 loops on the crochet hook. Now, remove, 2 loops per yarn over 5 times.
I hope this will help you a lot while following this crochet tutorial below! I have described all the complicated stuff so you never blame me for suggesting this tutorial to you!
